Given the haphazard response, I'm skeptical Germany had a coherent energy strategy, one that may or may not have included a "kinetic exit" from its dependency on Russia. In any case turning to Russia for energy was the rational choice; exiting it, without an alternative, cannot have been anyone's idea of a good idea, except perhaps for the nutty, ideologically-driven Greens with their ugly Malthusian agenda.
