The UN voted on Friday for a humanitarian pause by margin of 120 to 14, with 45 abstentions at the General Assembly.
Israel's U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan rejected the resolution, which called for an immediate ceasefire, the supply of aid and protection of civilians.
Erdan said that the United Nations "no longer holds any legitimacy or relevance" and accused those who voted yes of preferring to support "the defense of Nazi terrorists" instead of Israel.
Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, has issued a warning, saying that the possibility of opening a "new front" in the Israel-Hamas conflict hinges on Israel's actions in Gaza.
About 900 additional US troops are heading to the Mid East were numerous U.S. warships have been stationed.
More than 300 people were arrested at NY Grand Central Station in a mass protest by the Jewish Voice for Peace group @jvplive.
Al Jazeera reporter Wael al-Dahduh, who lost his family in a targeted attack two days ago, reported: “We are not all right, body parts are everywhere, missiles are aimed at everyone, and the bombing does not stop for a second.”
Israeli settlers, roused by the government’s shrill tone, killed farmer Bilal Saleh as he was harvesting olives on his land in the village of Al-Sawiya, south of Nablus. [1]
British luvies and showbiz types lined up, uncritically, with the Five Eyes governments and the media, as if there could only be one possible perspective on these events: their October Declaration.
Commentary
Any civilian who can stand or aid their fellows in the face of such an attack, displays the best of humanity: in the Warsaw Ghetto, in Dresden, in Leningrad, in the London Blitz, in Gaza.
With no communications, cell or Internet, the mosque loudspeakers sought to calm the people, including one million children of Gaza.
Arab countries have not even offered to extract the wounded. A woman in Gaza texted a message to Turkish television:
“Tell Muslim countries not to perform funeral prayers for us. We are alive, it is you who died."
It is not only in Arab neighbours that humanity has succumbed.
Isn't it curious that so many influencers or citizen journalists who rose quickly to prominence during the Covid response, are using that influence to promote one-sidedly the bombing of Gaza?
What motivated them during Covid? Was it the attack by governments on defenceless people? Was it seeing teenagers cut down as their hearts stopped; or watching mothers lament the stillborn?
Was it the mounting evidence that the pandemic was staged; an attack planned in advance upon an unsuspecting public, in order to push the vaccine?
Was it that "Israel became, if you will, the lab for Pfizer," as prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Jordan Peterson — who is one of those influencers who is now a megaphone rallying support to Netanyahu's side. [2]
Was it what Dr Michael Yeadon calls the evil of the connivance in democide, which led him to rediscover his earlier faith?
Were these champions of free speech motivated to fight censorship, and to expose the government propaganda teams that were manipulating public behaviour, as Laura Dodsworth exposed?
Did they become suspicious when governments around the world marched in lock step, as if coordinated from behind the scenes?
Or was it just their humanitarianism — their sense of fair play — that inspired them to call out genocide.
Where are they now?
The same appeal to justice, desire to guard civil rights, and plain humanity has deserted them as they drag their followers by a nose ring.
Or were they allowed rare opposition during the Covid assault, so they could be "turned" when it came to Gaza?
The Coof shot overlaps with countries that are supporting Israel in this attack. The U.S. Pentagon's DARPA developed the shot (Pfizer and Moderna simply provided the branding), Britain's King Charles knighted the head of Astra Zeneca (will he soon knight the others?) and Israel became the most-shot country.
500 trucks used to enter Gaza daily. Last week a handful entered... and do you know what they carried, besides body bags? Covid test kits.
Trust the government
Earlier this month a bombshell from Israel: Within 24 hours of the release of an analysis showing the Pfizer booster effectiveness is much lower than that claimed by the country’s chief epidemiologist Dr Alroy-Preis to the FDA panel, the relevant dashboard data history was re-written by the ministry of health (MOH).
Yaffa Shir-Raz, PhD, declared that you cannot trust ANY official data.
But now the same person, Dr Shir-Raz, trusts her government on Gaza, and loudly cheers for reprisals.
So many of the top voices on Covid see no problem with what is happening in Palestine.
They see the sinister hand aiming the vaccine syringe, and the right one shooting into Gaza. They fall for the illusion of bad cop, good cop, and fail to see it’s a shakedown.
Woke out of control
Probably the most famous mainstream critic of Israel’s policy in Palestine is Noam Chomsky.
Professor Norman Finkelstein @NormFinkelstein takes issue with prof Chomsky for making it seem that facts lead inexorably to a political and moral position. "That is not true... there are many stages of mediation between the two." [3]
What appears to have the clinical ring of certitude in debate, is very much muddied — or bloodied — by reality. Principles don’t easily mesh with what's possible.
Finkelstein acknowledges how hard it was to come through the horror of Oct 7, yet finds many people taking refuge in age-old platitudes.
He confronts the argument that "There is no Palestine." It comes in three versions: Eretz Israel — that Palestinians are usurpers; that the land was empty and Jews conquered the wilderness; or that they have no identity because "they're all Arabs" and would be equally at home in Syria or Jordan.
"A people without a land, for a land without a people" — as the slogan goes.
Despite the appaling events of Oct 7 it was younger people who bounced back, he says, recognising that despite those events, the attack on Gaza must stop.
The powers that be made a mistake in 1988 adding a book about the slave revolt leader Nat Turner to the list of biographies for grade school: many young people quickly made the connection with a ruthless slave rebellion, whose slogan was: "Kill all the white people!"
TPTB opened a Pandora's box when they tore down statues and called for reparations. The media spun on a dime and left its Wokeness behind, but not the universities and their students. Now Jewish billionaire donors to universities are at war with both. Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Lew Wexner last week pulled his funding from Harvard.
Vietnam and anti-Apartheid was a battle on campus between the activists and the indifferent; now it's the donors against the Woke university administration and students, Finkelstein says.
Donors argue that university administrators were not neutral over George Floyd — and nor should they be over Israel.
Jewish billionaires versus Woke is, in his words, an unexpected civil war.
Under international humanitarian law there are three gradations: war crime, crime against humanity and genocide. We are already at stage two, says Finkelstein. We may be at three.
"The Owl of Minerva spreads its wings, only with the falling of the dusk. One only acquires wisdom with the into an epoch with the ripeness of time. It is still high noon and thus too soon to judge what verdict history will cast on the slave revolt in Gaza on October 7, 2023."
Nothing justifies…
A million children are presently being bombarded by Israel. A holocaust is underway — in the etymological meaning of sacrifice by fire.
If this does not stir your HUMANITY, then use your critical THINKING skills.
Dr Gabor Maté, a psychologist, says you cannot go by feelings alone, which are conditioned by propaganda. "In a certain deep sense, I feel that it's the worst thing I've seen in my whole life."
"I know what happened to my own people. Nothing that happened to us justifies what is going on right now."
@DrGaborMate says you need to get past emotion and ask, "Do I really know what is going on? Have I stood in the shoes of other people? Is there something that happened in their land that made them so desperate?"
The rationale for Israel's actions has fallen apart — because the initial narrative has crumbled.
The deliberate "stand down" by Israel Defence Forces that allowed the incursion of Oct 7, has been exposed. Israeli settlers have testified that many civilians who died were killed in crossfire by IDF. More than half of the Israelis who died were soldiers or police. No complete list of victims has been published — but the government does admit that no babies were killed.
If you still believe the debunked stories about 40 Beheaded Babies, then fall back on your sense of JUSTICE.
